Transport to and from Geneva Airport (GVA)

Geneva airport is strategically connected to go through Switzerland or France.

 

To go to Geneva:

 

By rail

The rail station is located 300m from the airport, it has direct access to the airport check-in and arrivals levels. All trains stop at Geneva-Cornavin (city centre). The airport is 4 km (2,5 miles) to the Geneva city centre, the journey takes about 5 minutes, and costs from 5 Swiss francs. From Cornavin you can connect with the downtown via bus and tram network.

 

By bus

TPG (Geneva Public Transport) bus stops are situated at the departures and arrivals levels.

- Bus Number 10 goes to the city centre every 10 minutes.

- Bus Number 18 goes to the UN building every 30 minutes.

You can purchase tickets from the machines at the bus stops.

 

There are other buses that run to Annecy (France) and other ones (seasonal, during winter) that go to ski resort Chamonix (in France and Switzerland).

 

Urban Buses:

Urban buses stop at the check-in level and run every 8-15 minutes during rush hours at the airport.

Useful information

Passengers can pick up a free ticket named Unireso ticket for public transport from the machine in the baggage collection area at the Arrival level. This Unireso ticket is offered by Genève Aéroport and allow passengers to use public transport in Geneva for FREE during 80 minutes.

If passengers stay in a hotel, a youth hostel or a campsite in the canton, can receive a "Geneva Transport Card" free of charge. With this card, public transport in Geneva is FREE for the full duration of the passengers stay.

 

Shuttle bus

There are free shuttle buses outside the Arrival Level of the airport that run to different hotels. Please, ask to your hotel if they have the shuttle connection.

 

By taxi

The journey to the city centre will cost between 35-45 Swiss francs. Go to the arrivals level in the French sector, and ask at the Leman Voyage counter. Passengers can request a taxi service before arrive at the airport.

 

By road

The airport is approximately 6km from the city centre so if you're on a short break to Geneva you won't spend precious time travelling to your accommodation in Geneva. Pick up the Avenue Louis Casai, and follow signs to the city centre. Journey time is approximately 15 minutes.

To go through Switzerland

 

Swiss Rail Network

The airport connects to the Swiss and European rail network.

The SBB/CFF airport railway station has direct access to the airport Check-in and Arrival levels. All trains stop at Geneva-Cornavin station (city centre).

The Swiss Pass affords you unlimited travel on Swiss Travel System's public transport network on either 4, 8, 15 or 22 consecutive days or an entire month.

 

To go to France

 

Y bus: Ferney - Grand-Saconnex - Aéroport - Blandonnet - CERN - Thoiry

Buses go to: Annecy, Bonneville, Chambéry, Chamonix, Cluses, Grenoble, Lyon Perrache and Saint Gervais.

 

There are also seasonal winter buses that go to the following destinations:

Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Chamonix, Flaine, Les Carroz, La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand, Ballanfat, Les 3 Vallées, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, Loyet, Morzine, Sixt Fer à Cheval, Samoens, Morillon, Tarentaise.
